Opportunities for personal conversations –
gds to exhibit at three trade fairs across Germany in Fall

  • Joint exhibition with technotrans at the plastics fair K and EuroBlech
  • Series of presentations and a booth at the annual tekom conference

Sassenberg, October 11, 2022 – North-Rhine Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Baden-Württemberg: gds GmbH is getting ready to exhibit at three trade fairs this Fall. It all begins with the K 2022 in Düsseldorf, the world’s number one trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry, from October 19 to 26. On this occasion, the Competence Center for Technical Communication and Information Management can be visited at the booth of the parent company technotrans. Likewise, a joint exhibition with technotrans is also planned for the EuroBlech trade fair in Hannover, taking place from October 25 to 28. The final event is scheduled in the southern German city of Stuttgart, where gds, in addition to showcasing its products at a booth, will also enhance the conference program with three exciting expert presentations at the annual tekom conference from November 8 to 10.

“There is no substitute for talking face-to-face,“ says Ulrich Pelster, Managing Director of gds GmbH. So, it’s all the more important to seize all the opportunities available to get in touch with customers, partners and interested parties. “We will exhibit at distinctly different trade fairs this year to be able to touch base with as diverse a range of clientele as possible. We plan to use the opportunities to make new contacts and cultivate existing ones.”

The K in Düsseldorf will kick off the trade fair season where gds together with technotrans will showcase their products in hall 10, booth H23. Then, they are on the way to the EuroBLECH, the meeting point for representatives from the sheet metal forming industry. gds and technotrans will share booth 27-J173 on this occasion. gds will showcase in-house solutions to digital transformation in mechanical engineering at both trade fairs. With the Digital Only Concept from gds, it is possible to use the easybrowse Content Delivery Portal for the safe, paperless provisioning of operating instructions that are in full legal compliance. It is already successfully in use at technotrans, the parent company of gds. To make paperless provisioning happen, machines and systems are provided with a QR code that can be used to call up the relevant technical documentation. All that needs to be done is enter the serial number and the material number from the rating plate of the device on the technotrans website. Each delivered device is accompanied by a standardized and legally compliant extract from the operating manual, the safety instructions and instructions on how to access the Content Delivery Portal easybrowse.

Another topic is the new partnership with Transaction-Network, whose customer portal covers all of the essential processes in the after-sales service spectrum, interlinking them with one another. All relevant machine data is thus bundled on a platform, creating the basis for a digital twin. As a part of the cooperation, easybrowse, a solution to content delivery, is linked to the customer platform of Transaction-Network as an add-on, which allows making available situation-relevant information to all users at the right time and in the right place. This means, for instance, that in the event of an error message, not only will the problem be indicated but also how the affected component can be removed and installed. Plus, ordering the correct spare part takes just a few clicks.

Exciting series of presentations at the annual tekom conference

At the annual tekom conference in Stuttgart in November, gds will not only showcase its products in hall C2, booth 2/B60, but also contribute to the conference program. A series of three presentations on topics that are currently on the minds of industry leaders will be given by staff members of the Competence Center for Technical Communication and Information Management. On November 9, Jan Grüter, Product Manager of Content Delivery, together with Lena Wenner from ICMS GmbH and Dr. Jan Oevermann from plusmeta GmbH will start off the series of presentations with a compelling showcase session on “Praxiseinsatz von iiRDS” (Eng.: “Practical application of iiRDS”) in Plenum 2, at 10:05 am. The series will continue in room C4.1, at 11:35 am, with Christian Paul, Product Manager of docuglobe who will partner with Kathrin Reeker of VHV Anlagenbau GmbH to give a joint presentation on “Dokumentation automatisieren – Hirngespinst oder Realität?” (Eng.: “Automating documentation – utopia or reality?”). Based on the practical example of VHV Anlagenbau, they will present a thorough account of the challenges and objectives involved in the introduction of an editorial management system. They will demonstrate how the expense associated with compiling technical documentation can be significantly reduced with the aid of the editorial management system, docuglobe.

Furthermore, Tobias Kreimann will share his expertise, as part of the DERCOM Track framework, regarding “Drehkreuz Redaktionssystem: Eine Quelle, alle Use Cases“ (Eng.: “An editorial management system as a hub: one source, all use cases”) in Arena 2B.10, hall C2. He will deliver a 20-minute speech on November 10, at 10:45 am, on “Modularisierung und Standardisierung in der Technischen Dokumentation” (Eng.: “Modularization and standardization in technical documentation”) and present a feasible approach to how these can be simplified.

“At all three trade fairs, we will be providing information on important topics and innovations all about technical documentation,” says Ulrich Pelster. “On that note, we are looking forward to all visitors to the trade fairs and many inspiring encounters.”
